Understanding Stratozone's Workload Assessment Process
31 Mar 2023

Stratozone is a tool used to assess migration from on-premise models or from other public clouds (Azure, AWS) to Google Cloud. With Stratozone, we will get information on Utilization, Capacity, and even TCO that cannot be obtained from other assessment tools. Stratozone has now been acquired by Google, so its use is only for conducting assessments whose purpose is to migrate to Google Cloud.

By using Stratozone, companies can reduce the time and cost of migrating applications to the cloud, as well as ensure that they run efficiently after migration. It also helps companies ensure that their applications and data are safe and secure during the migration process.

Stratozone assesses customer assets through three main stages: Discovery, Design, and Recommendation.

Discovery : This is the first stage of the assessment, where Stratozone gathers information about the customer's assets, including applications, data, infrastructure, and business needs. Stratozone uses automated scanning and data analysis tools to gather this information.

Desain : After gathering the information, Stratozone performed a suitable architecture design for the customer's assets. This included determining the most suitable cloud solution, determining how applications and data would be moved to the cloud, and ensuring that applications would run properly once the migration was complete.

Recommendation: After performing the architecture design, Stratozone provides recommendations for the customer. This includes the most suitable cloud solution, migration schedule, and cost budget. Stratozone also provides recommendations to ensure that applications and data will be safe and secure once the migration is complete.

How Stratozone Works : Stratoprobe is an automated scanning tool used by Stratozone to gather information about customer assets such as applications, data, infrastructure and business needs. By using Stratoprobe, Stratozone can identify customer assets quickly and accurately, making the migration process to the cloud easier.

Stratoprobe collects information using application and data scanning technology. The tool analyzes customer applications and data to determine characteristics such as system specifications, applications used, and how much data is stored. This helps Stratozone understand the customer's business needs and ensure that the migration solution provided meets those needs.

After gathering information through Stratoprobe, Stratozone conducts data analysis to determine the cloud solution that best suits the customer's needs. This ensures that the migration solution provided meets the business needs and ensures that the customer's applications and data will run well after the migration is complete.

Strato Probe works using Port 22 (SSH) on assets whose operating system is Linux and uses Port 135 (WMI) for assets whose operating system is Windows. by using this model, Strato Probe works without the need to install any agent on the Asset to be assessed.

Strato Probe itself needs to be given access to the API https://api.stratozone.com to send data to the Google Data warehouse which will then be analyzed to produce reports that can be directly presented to the C level.

We will get the analysis results in a matter of days, to get maximum results, it is strongly recommended to customers that within the time span of the assessment phase there are peak traffic times to better understand server utilization behavior such as busy times, closing books, payment times, time creating reports that use resources not as usual.

In terms of Security, Strato Probe is also SOC 2/3 Compliant, all data has been encrypted in transit and at rest to provide security for Stratozone users.

1.    Request Assessment

StratoZone can be obtained through Google Partner, Google Partner will help make a Request Assessment to the Google Team, and customers will receive an email containing how to install and operate this Strato Probe.

2.    Deploy Data Collector (Strato Probe)

The customer provides a Server / Client where the Server can communicate to all Servers / Assets that will be assessed, such as Port 22 for Linux or Port 135 for Windows with Notes.

3.    Review Result

The results of this Assessment can be seen on the Stratozone Portal in a matter of days.
